You may not realize that there are three different types of poker hands. A straight flush is one of these hands, consisting of 5 cards of the same suit, including the ace. An ace can be high or low and cannot wrap around another pair. An ace high straight flush is a Royal Flush. However, if you have more than one five of a kind, your hand wins. In the game of poker, you must bet on your hands before you can reveal them to others. Each player receives seven cards, each of which has a number. Each hand is evaluated according to its quality, and the best hand wins the pot. Then, players reveal their hands in a clockwise rotation around the table. Depending on the poker variation, you may begin the process of revealing your cards with your opponent. However, in most poker games, the player who is dealt the last card is the dealer.

The game of poker was first recorded in 1829 by Joseph Cowell, who characterized it as a game in which four people bet money on the highest-valued hand. In 1837, the game reached the U.S., where Hoyle, R.F. Foster noted that it had been played since 1829. The game was first played with a 20-card deck and spread rapidly. Shortly afterward, the game was renamed to the current version, known as Texas Hold ‘Em.
